This article highlights a successful case of Western Digital (WD) hard drive firmware repair and data recovery. The hard drive model was WD20NMVW-11W68S0, and the PCB number was 2060-771801.

The failure symptoms included the external HDD not being detected by the computer and inaccessible data. To diagnose the issue, the user converted the USB PCB to SATA PCB (771823) and connected it to hardware.

Diagnosis revealed a firmware corruption issue, which was resolved with a simple one-click fix. The next step was to create a disk image and use decryption to recover all lost partitions and files. In the end, all data was successfully recovered.
