This is a case of data recovery on a WD SMR HDD (WDC WD40EDAZ-11SLVB0) that was brought to the engineer after the client had tried using various other data recovery tools and failed. The client was unable to retrieve their lost data due to a format issue with the SMR HDD.
The engineer first backed up the second level translator-module 190 and then proceeded with the data recovery process. They repaired module 190 and obtained the following results:
